Jean CarterWARRINGTON is one of the top councils in England for finding 16 and 17-year-olds suitable places in education and training.
The borough was ranked 15 out of 152 local authorities for the “September Guarantee” – a national measure to ensure all 16 and 17-year-olds have a guaranteed place in education, employment or training for the coming academic year.
In the North West, Warrington is ranked third out of 23 local authorities.
At 97.9 per cent, Warrington’s results are 4.7 per cent better than the regional average and 5.1 per cent better than the national average.
In addition, Warrington continues to perform extremely well in its work around reducing the number of 16 and 18-year-olds not in education, employment or training (NEET) with results better than the regional and national averages.
Cllr Jean Carter (pictured), the council’s lead member for Children and Young People said: “This is an excellent result for Warrington and bears testament to the outstanding joint work which is undertaken by schools, colleges, training providers, employers and the Careers for Young People service to support our young people.
“The results for Warrington continue to show that our young people are committed to gaining qualifications and training to support them to progress into higher education and employment.”
