TWENTY patients at a Warrington private hospital took part in a pantomime staged for other patients, staff, relatives and commissioners.
The production of “Aladdin” at Arbury Court hospital proved so popular with patients that director Dave McManus had to write-in additional roles to accommodate all the patients who wanted to take part.
Mr McManus, training and development manager at the hospital said: “Patients took part in auditions and decided which parts they would like to take on.
“During the period a few of the patients involved moved on to other mental health services, due to the recovery they had made, so this year a few staff were also involved in the production.”
“Many patients from across different parts of the hospital were involved in rehearsals once a week and as the event drew near they took place three times per week.”
There were five performances of Aladdin in total including one for other patients and staff at other hospitals in the North West.
The show received praise from the local Mental Health Act commissioner and representatives from NHS England who thoroughly enjoyed the performance.
