Vandals start skip fire

VANDALS set fire to the contents of a large skip in the garden of a house at Warrington early today.
Fire crews used two hosereel jets to extinguish the blaze in Buttermere Crescent, Orford, which did not threaten any nearby property.
Earlier firefighters were called to a house in Watkin Street, Warrington after fire broke out in the kitchen.
The blaze involved an overheated chip pan which the occupier managed to move to a place of safety before crews arrived and extinguished the flames.
They used a ventilation unit to clear smoke from the property and then carried out a fire safety assessment of the property. No-one was hurt.
