CLASSIC car TV presenter and pop musician Fuzz Townshend will be the celebrity patron at the 2015 Lymm Historic Transport Day.
Having a celebrity patron has already becoming something of a tradition at the event.
For the first event in 2013 it was keen narrowboater Matthew Corbett (of Sooty and Sweep fame) while last year the role was filled by ex-world champion speedway rider Phil Collins.
When the team put their heads together at a pre-Christmas meeting it was felt right to invite some-one from the world of classic cars as they form such an important part of the event.
Deb Willacy, event project manager, was delighted when their first choice for the job accepted immediately.
Fuzz Townshend is well known not only in the world of classic cars but pop music too. These days he is probably best known as the presenter of “Car- SOS” on National Geographic and More 4. He also has his own car restoration company as well as being an independent journalist specialising in classic cars and buses.
On top of all that he has somehow managed to fit in being drummer for some great bands including The Wonder Stuff and Pop Will Eat Itself.
“We are thrilled to have Fuzz involved,” said Deb.
“Amazingly he had already heard what a good show it was and had put it in his diary to attend even though he is based in the Midlands. It ‘s a great indication of how quickly the event has becoming established on the calendar which is good news for the festival as a whole and for Lymm as a destination.”
Fuzz will be helping to promote the event as well as being a guest on the day which will be Sunday June 28th – the final day of Lymm Festival .
