ORFORD student Daniel Miller has won a bid funded by O2 to inspire the next generation of radio enthusiasts in Warrington.
Daniel, 22, is to set up the Vibe Youth Radio Station aimed at the 13-25 age group and will have the motto “bringing the hear back into radio”.
He said: “This is awesome! I’ve got huge plans for the new station starting with the existing radio team from Warrington Collegiate. Vibe radio will have an impact on the youth of Warrington and beyond. The future is in online radio – there’s already a sizeable audience for online radio, but there’s lots more we can do.”
The Interactive Media student has experience in setting up and running the student radio station at Warrington Collegiate, and that contributed to his success in winning the funding from “think big with O2.”
The aim of the station is to work with community leaders to engage young people from presenting to technical roles and head of music, an exciting prospect for young people in Warrington.
The station will aim to engage young people and get them involved with the station from presenting to technical roles and head of music.
Dan is hoping the station will go on air in the New Year, in late spring, after a school and youth centre tour.
