TWO men who stole Christmas presents from Warrington families have been sentenced to a total of more than seven years in prison.
Wesley Andrew Burton, 30, and Jason Raymond Burke, 31, both appeared at Chester Crown Court where they plead guilty to burglary and theft from a vehicle.
Burton was sentenced to a total of three years and four months while Burke received jailed for three years and seven months.
The pair were arrested by officers following a burglary at an address on Poplars Avenue, Warrington on November 20.
During the incident the offenders stole a large number of Christmas presents the family had bought for their children.
After arresting Burton and Burke two days later, officers conducted a full search at Burton’s home address on Cleveland Road, Warrington, where they recovered a number of the presents that had been stolen from the address in Poplars Avenue.
In addition, officers also recovered other Christmas presents which had been stolen from a vehicle on Mardale Avenue, Warrington, on the same night the burglary had occurred.
Detective Constable Vicky Goodwin, from Warrington, said: “I am extremely pleased with the outcome of this case; it is particularly pleasing that we were able to reunite both of the affected families with some of the presents that they thought they had lost forever.
“Hopefully, thanks to the hard work of our team, both families will be able to have an enjoyable Christmas.”
