Tax cuts to take people out of income tax

PROPOSED tax cuts by a future Conservative government would take an estimated 4950 low-earners in Warrington North out of paying income tax altogether.
The personal allowance would be raised to £12,500, and the threshold at which people pay the 40p rate of tax will raise to £50,000 by 2020.
The former has already risen to £10,000 since 2010, meaning the typical taxpayer is paying £705 less in income tax, and over three million have been taken out of income tax altogether. This will rise again to £10,500 from next April.
Richard Short, the Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Warrington North, said: ‘I strongly believe that the best way to make families more secure is to let people keep more of what they’ve worked hard to earn. It’s not up to Governments to decide how to spend your hard earned pay and you should be keeping as much of it as possible. I grew up in a low income family where literally every penny counted so I know that it’s morally wrong for politicians to go around spending hardworking taxpayer’s money like it grows on trees.
“With the Labour leadership of Warrington Council refusing to even discuss the Living Wage for it’s own workers, it’s all the more important that in Government we’ve been cutting income tax at the same time as reducing the deficit. A future Conservative government will take this even further, lifting nearly 5000 people in Warrington North out of paying income tax altogether at the same time as cutting taxes for 30 million people.
“If we abandon the Conservatives’ long-term economic plan all this good work will be undone and the take home pay of the lowest paid will be at risk of a tax grab. We can’t let this happen. By cutting the deficit and taxes we’re helping hardworking taxpayers be more financially secure and have greater peace-of-mind about the future.”
