Youth club seeks views of young people

YOUNG people in Warrington are being invited to take part in a special survey as part of the proposals to transform the iconic Mr Smiths building into a Youth Zone.
The survey is being carried out by OnSide Youth Zones and Warrington Youth Club survey allowing young people a chance to give their views on
how a young person living in Warrington, likes to spend their free time.
The results from the survey will form part of the consultation process required by Warrington Borough Council to make a final decision on approving the proposals by OnSide Youth Zones to work in partnership with Warrington Youth Club to renovate the iconic Mr Smith’s building on Wilson Patten Street into a Warrington Youth Zone by 2016.
At a council meeting last month it was requested that consultation with key stakeholders, including young people from across Warrington, would be sought.
OnSide Youth Zones are the product of years of consultation with young people and their active participation in the development and operation of OnSide facilities. The views of local young people are vital to the success of the new proposed Warrington Youth Zone both before and during development.
As such, OnSide is working in partnership with the Council to facilitate this consultation process and is including members of Warrington Youth Club, Warrington’s Youth Council and the Youth Café. During the development stage OnSide will create a Young People’s Development Group; a representative and diverse group of local young people that will help shape Warrington Youth Zone.
This process ensures that young people from Warrington will own the project from the beginning resulting in a relevant and successful project for their peers and the wider community.
The survey will close at 12pm on Thursday, November 20 in preparation for the next Warrington Borough Council meeting.
Paper copies of the survey are available from Warrington Youth Club.
