WARRINGTON Wolves have confirmed the signing of St Helens halfback Gary Wheeler ahead of the 2015 season.
Wheeler, 25, who has had an injury plauged career at St Helens, has agreed a one-year deal with the club.
He is recognised as a classic number six although he has also been known to step into the centres and on the wing making him a versatile member of any squad.
Wheeler progressed through the academy ranks at St Helens, and represented England Academy at a young age.
His Super League career has seen him make 56 appearances including 11 this past season.
Head of coaching and rugby Tony Smith said: “I’ve been a big admirer of Gary’s ability for some time. I first witnessed his skills when he played for England Academy. He’s extremely versatile and will add real depth to the squad. At times he’s had some bad luck with injuries but we’ve assessed the situation and look forward to him contributing to the 2015 season.”
