THE number of people in Warrington living with dementia is likely to reach nearly 2,500 by next May, according to new figures published by the Alzheimer’s Society.
Nationally, two thirds of people with dementia living in the community – but fewer than half say they feel part of their community.”
MP Helen Jones (pictured) says she doesn’t want this to be the case in Warrington.
“I want Warrington to be a dementia friendly place,” she said.
The Warrington North MP said if Labour formed the next government, mental health would be a priority.
She said: “The number of people living with dementia is steadily increasing and so we need to make sure that measures are in place to give people with this condition the best support possible.
“In Warrington we have great local services to help people with dementia remain part of the community, including support groups and advisers.
“If you, or a family member, are living with dementia please ring the National Dementia Helpline who can help signpost you to these services.”
The National Dementia Helpline 0300 222 1122 is run by specially trained advisers who can talk through concerns such as how to access treatment, how to get help locally, and caring for people with dementia.
