World Mental Health Day

AN event at Warrington Market will mark World Mental Health Day on Friday October 10.
Warrington’s Mental Health Forum will be holding a ‘Tea and Talk’ event at Warrington’s Indoor Market, with support from a range of local services on Friday 10 October, 10am – 4pm.
During the week of World Mental Health Day residents will also be able to find out more about local services that they can access to improve their emotional wellbeing in community cafes across central Warrington.
The aim of the events is to address the myths around mental health problems, to promote emotional wellbeing and to help residents become more aware of the services that offer information, support or advice.
This year’s focus is ‘Living with Schizophrenia’, the team want to challenge stigma in relation to schizophrenia and to let people know where in Warrington to get support.
Cllr Pat Wright, executive board member for health, wellbeing and adult services said: “The message for today is to let people know that there are people out there who can support you if you feel you need it. If you have a mental health issue, don’t be afraid to talk about it.
“Remember that one in four people will experience a mental health problem at some point in their lives, and it’s nothing to be ashamed of. This day is all about promoting the services and activities you can get involved in that could make a difference to your life.
“Simply getting involved with groups of people, sharing activities or just conversation can help. We want to provide the best possible support and I would urge anyone who would like more information to come along to the market for this event.”
If anyone you know is finding it hard to cope, is feeling desperate, or is having thoughts of suicide, they can talk to their GP, or ring the Warrington and Halton Assessment Team on 01925 666647, 24 hours a day. The Assessment Team is for adults with moderate to severe symptoms of mental health problems.
