Ground work starts at Rylands FC

WORK has begun on developments at Rylands FC on Gorsey Lane to help improve grassroots football in the town.
A five-step plan backed by sponsor Paul Stretford, who is Wayne Rooney’s agent, includes the installation of new pitch side barriers to surround the pitch, new dugouts, modern style ‘box nets’, the creation of a pitch side changing and shower facility, and building a covered terracing for spectators.
At current standard, Rylands Recreation Club would not be able to meet the grading requirements to play any higher than their current standard of the Cheshire League.
Should progress be made on the pitch, floodlights will also be added to the ground.
Paul Stretford, Managing Director of Triple S Sports & Entertainment Group, and former Rylands player said: “As a local company that operates at the very highest level of sport, we feel that it is important as part of our corporate social responsibility programme to put something back in to local and grassroots projects. Rylands FC is one of such projects that we have supported through sponsorship and more recently, fundraising to help much needed ground improvements.”
The club are aiming to progress to the North West Counties League and beyond, with the hope that the ground improvements will offer a greater match day experience for players, officials, club representatives and spectators.
