Online special needs service

AN online information service for children with special educational needs has launched at Warrington.
The website www.warrington.gov.uk/localoffer is a one-stop-shop for information about services available to support children and young people from birth to 25 years across education, health and social care.
It has been developed in partnership with children and young people, parents and carers, and local services, including schools, colleges,
health and social care agencies.
It covers all sorts of services for children and young people including child care, education, social care and support, health, travel and transport, housing and accommodation, finances, and activities and services provided by the voluntary sector and community groups and much more.
Cllr Jean Carter (pictured), the borough council’s lead member for children and young people’s services, said: “We’re delighted we now have all of our information together in one place. By making this information more accessible for children and young people and their families, they
are able to make more informed choices.
“As well as implementing SEND reforms, here in Warrington we are also aiming to improve the way services are provided so that they consistently place children and families at the centre of service provision.
“We’ve asked families what they want and need and the local offer package has been developed as a result of what they have said.
“This has been a fantastic opportunity to bring together many of Warrington’s other projects for children and young people with disabilities, including our fantastic new education hub at Woolston Learning Village.
“If you have a child with additional needs or disabilities, do take the time to look around the website and find out more about what is available to you.”
