THREE drivers were taken to hospital after a three-vehicle crash on the A574 Warrington Road outside Risley Prison.
All three were believed to be suffering from whiplash injuries.
The vehicles involved were a BMW, a Ford Fiesta and a Mitsubishi Shogun which careered over some roadside barriers.
The road was closed for a while but was re-opened shortly at 5.30pm.
