Man dies in blaze tragedy

AN elderly man has died in a tragic house fire at Warrington, it was revealed today.
The 94-year-old’s body was found at the house in Gerosa Avenue, Winwick after the first broke out yesterday afternoon.
Around 30 firefighters were involved in the operation which broke out in a semi-detached bungalow and spread to the roof loft of the property next door.
There were no other occupants and no-one else was harmed. The deceased’s next of kin have been informed and a report has been prepared for the coroner.
An investigation into the cause of the fire is still underway, but police say the incident is not being treated as suspicious.
Anyone with information about the fire is asked to call police on 101.
Five fire engines were involved in the operation and two main jets and two hose reel jets were used to extinguish the blaze.
