Grappers move up to third place

GRAPPENHALL moved into third place in the Vivio Cheshire County League Premier division with a four wicket win over Macclesfield at Broad Lane.
The home side batted first on a good batting track and reached a respectable 229-7. Josh McClelland was the pick of the Grappenhall bowling with 3-59.
Luke McCoy, with a superb 72 put Grappers on the right track, with good support from opener Adam Roylance, 38. But it was some late hitting from Gaz Burns, 33 not out, that finally secured victory for Grappers with just one over to spare.
Grappenhall 2nd won at Macclesfield and Grappenhall 3rd made it a 100 per cent weekend for Grappers with an exciting win over Didsbury at Broad Lane.
Mark Tyreman top scored with 60 as Grappers batted first but the visitors went for the runs and the game ended with two run outs in three balls as Didsbury failed to reach their target with three balls to spare.
In division two, Warrington coasted to a comfortable nine wicket win over Bollington at Walton Lea.
Brothers Kyle and Matt Adams demolished the visitors for 88, Kyle taking 6-42 and Matt 3-33. Then Warrington hit off the runs for the loss of one wicket, Chris Kirby hitting 38 not out and James Hughes 35 not out.
Warrington 4th went down by 10 wickets after being restricted to 163-5 by Didsbury, who then hit off the necessary runs without loss.
In the Cheshire Alliance, Rylands were routed for 46 after winning the toss and electing to bat first against Ellesmere Port at Warrington. The visitors strolled to 47-2.
Appleton went down heavily at Wilmslow where the home side totalled 223 despite some good bowling by Danny Oliver, 4-37 and Aamir Rashid, 3-76. Appleton struggled to 95 all out, with Dave Hurst top scoring with 19.
Appleton 3rd lost by 42 runs against Wilmslow Wayfarers went they were dismissed for 11- after the visitors had totalled 152.
Stretton were beaten away at Wilmslow Wayfarers who declared on 232-5. Stretton could only muster 92 in reply, opener John Wells stop scoring with 31.
The 2nd XI “derby” game between Stretton and Rylands ended in a massive 177-run win for Stretton who declared on 259-5 and then dismissed a depleted Rylands for 82.
Glazebury suffered a heavy defeat at home to Haslington.
Batting first, they were dismissed for 69, Rhys Marsh, 18 and Jack Warhurst, 13, being the only two batsmen to reach double figures. Jon Gibbons took 3-20 but the visitors won with 73-5.
In the Cheshire League, Lymm Oughtrington Park 2nd lost by nine wickets against Romily after being dismissed for 133.
