Age UK bowled over to take on professional cricket legends

FORMER England cricket stars Derek Randall and Mark Ramprakash will lead an Age UK cricket team of staff and volunteers against the Professional Cricket Association (PCA) Masters at Grappenhall Cricket Club in Warrington at 2pm on Sunday, August 24.
Tickets are now on sale for the charity match and a glittering gala dinner which will feature an all-star line-up of England cricket legends, including Strictly Come Dancing winner Mark Ramprakash. The Charity aims to raise vital funds to help older people.
The star-studded charity sporting afternoon will see the Age UK team take on the PCA Masters including past England cricketers Steve Harmison, Neil Fairbrother, Alex Tudor and Dean Headley.
Hugh Forde, Managing Director of Retail, Trading and Training at Age UK said: “We’re really excited about testing out our batting skills against England’s cricket legends. It’s destined to be a fun sporting afternoon followed by a spectacular evening, with all the money raised supporting Age UK in helping older people through its services across the country and right here in Warrington.”
Former England Cricketer, Mark Ramprakash (pictured right) said: “Myself and the rest of the PCA Masters look forward to heading to Grappenhall CC to take on the Age UK team later this summer. I will be captaining the PCA Masters and will hopefully be leading my team to an entertaining victory! It would be great to see the ground full for what is sure to be another fantastic occasion, and we are very proud to be part of such a great fundraising event.”
After the excitement of the match, a glittering gala dinner will follow from 7pm at the Grappenhall Cricket Club. People will be able to join a host of cricket legends for a celebratory dinner and take part in a silent auction for unique sporting memorabilia including a signed bat from the current England Cricket Team and from the legendary umpire Dickie Bird as well as other great prizes such as a tour of Liverpool’s Anfield Football Stadium. The evening includes a line-up of great entertainment including a talk from the PCA Masters team, a live auction as well a disco to end the evening entertainment.
Tickets for the star-studded afternoon charity match for can be purchased for £10 (£5 concessions). Tickets for the evening event are available at £100 for an individual, £1,000 for a 10-seat table or £1,500 for a nine-seat table with a PCA cricketer.
