Birthday honours for foster carers, milkman and world champion bricklayer

A WARRINGTON couple who have fostered more than 90 babies, a milkman from Lymm and a World Champion bricklayer from Grappenhall are amongst those honoured in the Queen’s Birthday List.
Ros and Warren Whalley, aged 71 and 70, have received MBEs for their outstanding devotion to looking after youngsters as well as their own four children, as well as charity work, raising donations for the Children’s Christmas Selection Boxes and organising events for children in care.
Al;so receiving tghe MBE is Mrs Margaret Isherwood for services to adult learning in the community in Warrington.
Meanwhile Lymm milkman Raymond Broadsmith has received a British Empire Medal.
The 48-year-old has been a volunteer for Lymm May Queen Festival, which takes place today, since 1975 when he was just 10-years-old. He has also run his own milk delivery service since 1986, taking time to check on elderly residents and even clearing their snowy paths.
Meanwhile 21-year-old Ashley Terron, (pictured right) a former bricklaying student at Warrington Collegiate, has also received the British Empire Medal for his services to skills.
He won a gold medal at the trades equivalent of the Olympics World Skills event in bricklaying last year.
He has gone on to use his success to show how apprenticeships can help young people achieve great things with experience as well as qualifications.
