WARRINGTON Wolves moved up to fifth in the Super League table with a comfortable 36-4 victory over Wakefield.
Ben Currie scored two first-half tries in what was a stand-out individual performance as part of a squad that included 16 British-born players.
The Wolves scored 18 in either half to record victory, and lift them above Huddersfield and Widnes to within four points of Castleford and Wigan.
Two former Wakefield players were involved in early incidents. Back-rower Ben Westwood placed on report for a dangerous throw on Scott Anderson, which saw the Australian leave the field, and then centre Ryan Atkins’ searing break down the left set up the first try for Stefan Ratchford.
After Currie’s double, Gene Ormsby crossed for Warrington’s fourth try after linking up with Chris Bridge, and it was 18-0 at half-time.
Bridge got his name on the scoreboard early in the second half, before Lucas Walshaw registered the home side’s only score of the afternoon.
Richie Myler, making his return from a shoulder injury from the bench, then created a try for Atkins with a smart offload, and scored one of his own soon after, collecting a kick from Currie.
Bridge added four conversions from seven as the Wolves recorded a ninth consecutive victory over Wakefield.
