MP's special trip to Westminster

WARRINGTON North MP Helen Jones made a special trip to Westminster to hand in a petition from some of her near neighbours.
Residents of Pendle Gardens and Wigshaw Lane in Culcheth had organised the petition on the controversial HS2 rail project which will have a severe impact on the Culcheth area.
They are seeking, among other things, better compensation provisions, changes to noise thresholds and noise limits during construction and better emissions monitoring.
Parliament is in recess but the petition had to be taken to the
Public Bill Office before today (Friday).
The MP – who lives in Culcheth herself – said: “The petition had to be delivered to Parliament before a May 23 deadline and that required a special trip to Westminster to ensure it would be accepted.
“I am pleased to say that I handed it in to the Public Bill Office and the views of my constituents will be registered.”
