YOUNG people that took part in Warrington Youth Club’s NCS programme celebrated their journey and collected their official NCS graduation certificates signed by Prime Minister David Cameron.
Over 50 young people with their friends and family attended the presentation and looked back on their NCS journey with new friends from their team.
In a special graduation ceremony, held at Warrington Youth Club’s base at The Peace Centre, the youngsters celebrated the achievements they made over the last few months and reflected on the skills gained and friendships made.
Emma Reid, NCS Programme Manager said: “I am so very proud to be able to work with such fantastic young people who never cease to amaze and surprise us in terms of their effort, commitment and capabilities. Each and every one of these individuals has grown and developed personally over the past 6 weeks and it is inspiring to be able to watch and witness this progression as it transpires. Warrington has so much to be proud of with the next generation of youth and there are definitely exciting times ahead for all of our NCS graduates. I wish them the very best of luck.”
The National Citizen Service is a personal development programme which is open to all young people 16 & 17 years and includes outdoor activity and personal challenge weeks, team community social action projects and opportunities to make new friends, build skills and confidence and find out about future volunteer and career routes. As part of their NCS programme each group have two weeks to plan, research, design and deliver a social action project.
Also in attendance were representatives from the four organizations the teams supported as part of their social action project, Crazy Quilters for Linus, Cameron Mathieson Foundation, John Holt Cancer Support Foundation and Blue Apple Heroes.
