SHADOW Home Secretary Yvette Cooper visited Warrington – and was welcomed by Warrington North MP Helen Jones, a member of the Shadow Home Office team.
They visited the Fujitsu site at Birchwood, received a briefing on the work done by the company and met a number of their apprentices.
Fujitsu is a long-standing partner of the Home Office, providing services which help secure the border, police the streets and keep Britain safe.
The company provides opportunities for young people, employing more than 550 under-25s in their business.
Afterwards Yvette Cooper visited Culcheth and joined Matt Smith, Labour’s candidate for the Culcheth, Glazebury and Croft ward in the borough elections.
Helen Jones said: “I was delighted to welcome Yvette to Warrington North. She was able to see first-hand the work that Fujitsu are doing and to speak with a number of apprentices who work at the Birchwood site.
“She also joined the campaign trail in Culcheth and, along with Labour’s candidate Matt Smith, was able to talk to residents of Newchurch about the issues that concern them the most.”
