Drug dealers target park

DRUG dealers are targeting a Warrington park, a local councillor claims.
Nearby residents have complained about recent activity in and around Enfield Park, Cinnamon Brow – particularly during the afternoon when primary school children are leaving school.
Cllr Geoff Settle (pictured) said: “For some reason it would appear that drug dealers have been disturbed from their usual haunts and are now parking up near Enfield Park.
“Several residents have contacted me about with their concerns, especially as the activities are occurring during the afternoon and early evening”.
Cllr Settle was even approached himself, when he was doing a litter pick in Parkfields Park.
A cyclist asked him for directions to the “adventure playground” – but when asked to describe the park and why he wanted to go there, became evasive and agitated.
He was joined by a middle-aged man asking the same question and shortly afterwards two other men arrived, posing the same question.
Cllr Settle said he understood police had made a number of arrests. But the dealers only stayed in the area a short while before moving on to other parts of Warrington.
Cllr Settle added: “This needs to be nipped in the bud. Anyone with concerns should call the police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
“Vehicle descriptions and registration numbers would be helpful – although care should be taken in getting them.”
