CULCHETH Community Day on Bank Holiday Monday (May 5) will this year see the village pay a special tribute in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of World War One.
Central to the commemoration will be a parade by a number of local uniformed organisations including the Scouts and the ATC.
meanwhile the theme of this year’s Community Day will be Ancient Egypt. Entertainment acts will focus around an Egyptian Temple which will appear on the village green and feature performances from a travelling show to entertain young and old alike incorporating fire, magic and mystery.
There will also be the usual favourites – Trumble the clown (pictured above) will entertain young children; there will be music from the Tyldesley Brass Band; fairground rides; a pet show; a cake baking competition and the veteran car/motorcycle and tractor display.
Schools are taking part in an art competition and the Library will have a themed display. All this will be in addition to the usual activities on stalls
across the village green and in the Parish Hall and Methodist Hall.
More information, including the programme from mid-day, will be posted on the Parish Council Website, www.culchethandglazebury.org.uk.
