Market scoops top national award

WARRINGTON Market is celebrating scooping a national award for its “Love your local Market” campaign in May last year.
The vice president of the National Association of British Market Authorities Cllr Chris Rosling-Josephs, is coming to Warrington on Monday to present the award to the market team.
Market manager Steve Pickering, deputy leader of the council, Cllr Mike Hannon, and managing director of Warrington & Co, Steve Park, will join local traders in the market for the ceremony.
Last year more than 700 markets across the country took part in “Love Your Local Market” fortnight in May – a celebration of local markets.
As part of the campaign, Warrington Market held a number of successful events including outdoor markets, a vintage craft fair, history tours and a food festival.
An animated video was also produced after one of the market traders baked a cake that visited the House of Commons during the fortnight. See the video here:
