A LORRY driver has been arrested at Warrington on suspicion of murder after a motorist was found dead in the middle of the road.
Police are questioning the lorry driver, aged 46, from North Manchester after the incident in Manchester Road, Rixton, this morning.
The road was closed for some hours after the incident.
A police spokesman said: “Cheshire Police attended an incident at Manchester Road, Rixton, Warrington, at 8.15am this morning following reports that a man was deceased.
“At the scene, a 46 year old male from North Manchester, believed to be the driver of a DAF articulated lorry was arrested for murder.
“An unidentified white male believed to be associated with an untended car nearby, was declared dead at the scene.”
It is understood one theory the police are investigating is the possibility the man died as a result of a road rage attack.
Police have appealed for information from anyone who was travelling on the A57 Manchester Road close to Junction 21 of the M6 between 8am and 8.15am and witnessed erratic driving or the incident itself.
Anyone who can help should contact them on 101.
