House fire in town centre

FIRE crews were called to a serious house fire in the centre of Warrington early today.
The blaze was at a house in Winmarleigh Street and four fire engines and a hydraulic platform went to the scene from Warrington, Stockton Heath and Widnes.
Firefighters found the occupier of the property had escaped when they arrived at the scene.
One main jet and a hose reel jet were used to extinguish the flames and a ventilation unit was used to clear smoke from the building.
Police attended the incident and the cause of the outbreak is being investigated.
Fire crews from Warrington and Birchwood were called out to the southbound carriageway of the M6 this morning after a pile-up involving a heavy lorry and five saloon cars.
The incident was between Junction 21a and Junction 21.
No-one was trapped, but fire crews assisted paramedics with one casualty who was taken to hospital.
