More youngsters getting involved in politics

MORE and more young people are getting involved in politics, according to Sam Baxter, chairman of Warrington Conservative Future – the youth wing of the Conservative Party.
The organisation claims to be the largest youth wing of any UK political party and, although Warrington had a year off from elections last year, WCF carried on growing and had a steady stream of interest from young people.
But with local elections and European elections in May and a General Election next year, the group is recruiting new members.
Sam said: “We always kick off the year by letting people know who we are and what we do and 2014 is no different. More young people are getting involved in politics on all sides of the spectrum and especially in Conservative Future. They want to play their part in what is undoubtedly an exciting time in British politics.”
WCF – which represents both Warrington South and Warrington North constituencies and is open to those aged 12-30 – had a busy time last year, celebrating Student Volunteering Week, supporting colleagues around the North West in county council elections, stewarding at Disability Awareness Day for the fifth year running, fundraising for the Poppy Appeal and much more.
