FOR the first time, members of the public in Warrington are to be able to put questions direct to Cheshire’s Police and Crime Panel via social media platform Twitter.
When the panel next meets, it will be able to receive tweets from members of the public for the first time since it was set up in 2012.
The panel – the body that scrutinises the Cheshire Police and Crime Commissioner – meets in public every three months.
Time at the January meeting will be allocated to members of the public to ask questions of the panel in person or via Twitter.
Members of the public who attend are asked to note that meetings of the panel are webcast, so anyone who attends may appear in the internet-based broadcast. Each meeting can be viewed online for six months from the date of the meeting.
The panel is made up of councillors from Warrington, Cheshire East, Cheshire West and Chester and Halton councils, plus independent co-opted members. Warrington Borough Council provides administration for the panel as the lead authority.
The next meeting is on Friday, January 17 at 10am and will be at Wyvern House, The Drumber, Winsford.
The panel’s Twitter account @CheshirePCP will be continuously monitored throughout the and all incoming tweets will be seen by the chairman of the meeting.
