WARRINGTON Town maintained their unbeaten run and first place in the league table with a 2-0 win over Radcliffe Boro.
Goals from Carlos Meakin and captain David Mannix were enough to secure the three points in wet and blustery conditions at the HG Recruitment Stadium.
Town got off to a perfect start, scoring on their very first attack of the game. A long throw down near the corner flag was knocked on and Meakin stabbed the ball in to the back of the net.
Despite dominating for much of the first half, Town were fortunate to go in at half time in the lead, with Radcliffe twice hitting the woodwork on the half hour mark.
Chris Gahgan and Ciaran Kilheeney both went close, with Gahgan’s mazy runs causing problems for the visitors’ defence.
The crucial second goal came early in the second half, when Mannix finished well from an Aaron Bowen cross.
Warrington continued to have chances for the remainder of the game, and even the introduction of ex-Town favourite Chris Thompson couldn’t save Radcliffe from defeat.
Meanwhile, Monday night’s game at New Mills has been called off due to a waterlogged pitch.
Warrington: Cook, Davies, Thompson, McKenna, McCarten, Millington (Mooney), Gahgan, Mannix, Bowen, Meakin (West), Kilheeney (Wharton). Unused subs: Newby, Kennedy.
