Last gasp heartbreak for Town

AN injury time goal consigned Warrington Town to a last gasp 2-3 defeat to Lancaster City at the HG Driver Recruitment Stadium.
With the kick off delayed due to the visitors being held up on the motorway, it was Lancaster who were first out of the blocks with a goal from Aaron Taylor after just three minutes.
But Warrington hit back with a curling free kick from skipper David Mannix, who beat the keeper from 25 yards.
With the game level at half-time Warrington took the lead on 51 minutes when man-of-the match Ben Wharton chested the ball down and rifled it into the back of the net.
Warrington piled on the pressure but couldn’t find an elusive third to kill off the game.
They should have been awarded a penalty when Chris Gahgan was clearly pushed in the box (see picture below) – but the referee only gave a free kick on the edge of the area.
The visitors grabbed an equaliser against the run of play through Simon Waring, and with the clock ticking over into injury time Tom Kilfilin broke Warrington’s hearts.
After back to back defeats Town will be looking to get back on track when they entertain Ramsbottom United on Saturday, kick off 3pm followed by a trip to Northwich Victoria on Bank Holiday Monday.
