Woman killed after crash – updated

POLICE have named the woman pedestrian killed in a road crash in Lovely Lane, Warrington – and arrested the driver of the car involved. .
The 38-year-old man was arrested after being released from Wythenshawe Hospital where he had been taken with spinal injuries.
The woman sustained fatal injuries following a collision with an Audi A4 car in Lovely Lane, near to Warrington Hospital at 6.50pm yesterday (Thursday).
She was mother-of-four Donna Davies, 41 who had lived in Warrington all her life. She had been walking in Lovely Lane with her 10-year-old daughter who escaped unhurt but was treated for shock.
Mrs Davies leaves her husband for 20 years Paul, four children aged 17, 16, 13 and 10, her mother, two sisters, four brothers and an extended family.
Police say the Audi left the carriageway near to the railway bridge and collided with the woman who was walking on the pavement .
Also in the car were two boys aged 4 and 8, who were taken to Alder Hey hospital where their condition is described as stable and non life threatening.
Mrs Davies’ family are being provided support by the Constabulary who have asked that they be left to grieve in peace. .
Any witnesses to the collision are asked to call Cheshire Police on 101.
The road was closed for several hours and eye witness reports said an air ambulance attended the scene landing in near by Sankey Valley Park.

  1. I was in the hospital car park not long after this tragic accident. I was disgusted that there were bystanders taking photos and filming the scene on their mobile phones -where is their respect? Respect for the injured as well as those who were doing the unenviable job of trying to rescue those trapped.

    Our thoughts are with the grieving family at such a dreadful time.
