Wire suffer set back

WARRINGTON Town’s play-off hopes suffered a major set back as they

crashed 0-2 at home to in form Cammell Laird who recorded their sixth

straight victory.
Town were sluggish all over the pitch with a new Year’s Day hangover performance and created few if any chances in a goaless first half.
Cammell Laird worked hard and were rewarded with the goal their play deserved on the hour when striker Aaron Bowen controlled a through ball well to beat the advancing Town keeper.
Warrington were unlucky not to be back on level terms when John Miles hit the underside of the crossbar with a superb 25 yard free kick – but that was the closest Warrington came to scoring.
As Town pushed for the equaliser Lairds got their second goal in the 85th minute when former Town player Mike Grogan fired into the roof of the net from close range after keeper Andy Robertson had saved a header but failed to clear the danger.
It doesn’t get any easier for Town with unbeaten Skelmersdale next up at the Abacus Solicitors’ Community Stadium this coming Saturday, kick off 3pm.
