Premier League young guns go down to the Wire

WARRINGTON Town defeated Premier League Stoke City’s young guns 2-0 at Cantilever Park as Wire manager Shaun Reid and former Manchester United and Wales legend Mickey Thomas rolled back the years with cameo performances.
After striking the post in the firts minute Town got off to a great start as Rob Hardwick put the home side 1-0 ahead after just 3 minutes.
A free kick from Hardwick was saved well by the goalkeeper.
The battle of the central midfielders was a strong one with Warrington Town starting to create chances up front thanks to great, all-round teamwork.
From the kick-off in the second half Skipper Gerard Kinsella doubled Warrington’s advantage as the yellows started to take further control of the game.
Rob Hardwick was brought down in the penalty area in the 76th minute but saw his penalty well saved by the visiting keeper.
Manager Reid and midfielder Thomas were introduced in the latter stages as Warrington retained control of the game in front of a healthy crowd of nearly 300 which included Warrington’s Mayor Cllr Steve Wright.
Town now face Marine at Cantilever Park next Tuesday (24th July) in a 7:30pm kick off.
