Town swoop for top defender

WARRINGTON Town have swooped to sign top non-league defender Owen Roberts from Clitheroe FC.
Roberts aged 23, has previous experience with Leigh Genesis and is expected to go straight into Town’s squad for today’s crucial league game v Woodley Sports with Mike Duffy starting the first of his three game ban.
Manager Joey Dunn is strengthening his squad as the club makes a push for the play-offs following a run of nine games un beaten since the start of the year, with another key signing set to be announced in the next week.
Former first team coach James Standing, who is now Warrington’s community development officer said: “I was with Owen at Leigh and it is fair to say he has got one of the best left foots I have seen in non league football.”
Roberts was a YT at Port Vale and played at Leigh in the Blue Square North. He had two years at Radcliffe Borough and took time out from the game to concentrate on his university studies before joining Clitheroe in December 2011.
