Fire crew tackle car fire on M62 at Croft Interchange

ONE fire crew from Birchwood was called out on Saturday afternoon to tackle a car on fire on the M62 at the Croft Interchange.

Shortly before 12.45pm, firefighters from Birchwood were called to reports of a car on fire on the M62 eastbound between junctions 10 and 11.



On arrival, they found a Ford C-Max well alight and, wearing breathing apparatus, used a hose reel jet to put the fire out. A thermal imaging camera was used to ensure the fire was fully extinguished.
Lanes 1 – 3 were temporarily closed during the incident and the crew were at the scene for 30 minutes.
Later in the day at around 15.30 a crew was called out to a bin fire on Loushers Lane, Latchford.
Firefighters used a water back pack to put out a fire and were at the scene for 20 minutes.
