Brides galore as winter wedding ball raises £1,126 for charity

THE second “Winter Wedding Ball” at Frodsham’s Best Western Forest Hills Hotel attracted 120 ladies, nearly all in their wedding dresses – and raised £1,126.55 for charity.
It was bigger and better than the first – held last year – when about 70 ladies attended and it again provided an occasion for former brides to live it up in their wedding dresses again.
Kym Lawson, from Runcorn, came up with the idea last year – a special occasion to enable former brides, bridesmaids, etc to wear their dresses again.
After the event was a huge success, she got together with Helen Davenport, sales manager at the hotel, to do even better this year.
Thanks to local companies who gave support the night was a great success and raised £1,126.55 split equally between Halton Haven Hospice and Cancer Research.
The night started with a wedding arrival drink, with cocktails throughout the night, aptly named, Engagement (Sweet), Wedding (Classic), Honeymoon (Spicy) and Divorce (Sour).
Despite the gathering being of mainly married ladies, the Engagement cocktail proved the most popular!
There was plenty of dancing, a prize draw, throwing of the bouquet and ending with Dirty Dancing!
Forest Hills have publicly thanks local companies who gave support and ensured the event was again a success.
Feedback was terrific – which means the event could be staged again next year.
