A man being pursued by police jumped into the Manchester Ship Canal near Latchford, Warrington, in a bid to escape.
The man was wanted following an incident in Orford yesterday (Saturday) evening and was chased by officers a long Kingsway, aided by the police helicopter and eventually jumped into the ship canal near the swing bridge.
But officers managed to rescue him from the water.
