FIRE crews from across Cheshire tackled a barn blaze at a farm on Bent Lane, Culcheth, Warrington, during the night.
Eight crews were in attendance at the fire which involved fertilizer stored in a barn building cladded with asbestos and a specialist hazardous materials unit from Warrington was also mobilised.
The fire involved a barn which was 30 metres by 15 metres and was well alight with walls and roof constructed of asbestos. Crews donned full fire fighting kit, personal protection equipment and dust masks.
Friefighters used two main jets to fight the fire and three ground monitors were used to control the smoke and prevent the fire from spreading.
