LIVEWIRE’S Broomfields Leisure Centre is set to reopen early next month for gym, group exercise classes and swimming.

LiveWire, the Community Interest Company that manages leisure and library services on behalf of Warrington Borough Council, has outlined its reopening plans for Broomfields, which has been closed since March due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
In line with the reopening of other sites across the borough and member demand, LiveWire is taking a phased approach to the reopening of Broomfields for the safety of customers and staff, which features an initial controlled activity timetable.
Broomfields will reopen for gym and group exercise classes on Monday 2nd November, with the swimming pool reopening the following week on Monday 9th November.
Full timetables for gym sessions, group exercise and swimming will be released very soon.
Safety measures in place to help limit the spread of Covid-19 will include:
· A contactless check in process and new one-way systems around parts of the buildings.
· Social distancing in reception, gym areas and group exercise classes.
· Redistribution of gym equipment around the site to allow for social distancing.
· Enhanced deep cleaning schedules, including equipment.
· Hand sanitiser available for customers and staff.
Any members currently on suspend will continue to have their membership suspended with pay as you go options available. However any suspended members who wish to reactivate their all-inclusive membership with the reopening of Broomfields should email [email protected] as soon as possible. All active members also receive free access to the new LiveWire@Home virtual platform that features regular live and on-demand classes from instructors.
The Learn to Swim programme is also due to restart next month at Broomfields, and the Aquatics Team will be in touch directly with those currently on the programme with more information about the resumption of swimming lessons.
Warrington Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for leisure and community, Cllr Tony Higgins, said: “The reopening of Broomfields Leisure Centre is great news for the local community. A huge amount of work has gone into creating a safe environment for visitors and staff, and I’m looking forward to activities beginning to take place at the venue once more.
“We know how important our leisure centres are to the health and wellbeing of local people, and that’s why we’ve been making every effort to reopen them all – but only when this can be done safely.
“We believe the safety measures put in place at Broomfields – including contactless check-ins, a one-way system and careful distribution of equipment to support social distancing – will help keep everyone as safe as possible.”
In addition to the reopening of Broomfields, LiveWire has announced expanded opening hours for Birchwood Leisure & Tennis Complex, which reopened in September, due to member demand. The centre will now have an expanded programme of group exercise classes as well as Sunday opening.
After discussions between LiveWire and Warrington Borough Council three leisure and library sites in Warrington remain closed and presently do not have confirmed reopening dates – Culcheth Community Campus and Birchwood and Westbrook libraries.
