Trio boost Yellows squad ahead of season opener

WARRINGTON Town have added three new signings ahead of their first game of the Northern Premier League season on Saturday.

Midfielder Scott Brown, 35, has returned to the club on a season-long loan from EFL club Harrogate Town, after making 12 appearances during a loan spell at Cantilever Park last season.

He is joined by Warrington-born right-back James Baillie and former Mansfield Town forward Iyrwah Gooden.

Baillie, 24, has featured for the Yellows as a trialist during pre-season and came through the ranks at Crewe Alexandra, playing 16 games in the Football League, before a spell with Curzon Ashton.

The trio go in to contention for Saturday’s league opener away at Basford United.

The Yellows still have at least one more signing to make ahead of that game – a goalkeeper.

They have trialled four different goalkeepers during pre-season, though released one of those – Paddy Wharton – and he has since signed for Runcorn Linnets.
