HOLDERS of concessionary travel passes will no longer be able to travel free on local bus services before 9.30am on weekdays, starting this Monday (July 13).
For the past few months, holders of concessionary passes have temporarily been able to use local bus services across the borough for free before 9.30am. This was to support access to essential services, during a period when buses were less busy.
However, as more shops, restaurants and cafes re-open, buses are getting busier which means it is now necessary for the council to revert to the previous scheme, in line with other local authorities in the region. This will help ensure that there is enough space on services to meet the increasing demand.
Holders of concessionary passes who are registered as blind or partially sighted will still be able to use local bus services free at all times, as they could prior to the pandemic.
