CULCHETH Walking Football Group is to hold a tournament on Saturday, March 21 to raise money for The Christie Hospital in Manchester.
This follows the success of a similar event last ear which raised more than £3,000 for Prostate Cancer.
The event will be at Culcheth High School, from 11am until 2pm.
Group chairman and manager Denis Sutherland said: “At present we are working on the principle of 16 teams competing for the Culcheth Cup, donated by the Culcheth Arms public house.
“Last year the winners were Blackburn Rovers, worthy winners who, we hope, will be entering this year.
“Volunteers and sponsorship or donations are urgently required to make the day a big success and raise money for a great hospital.
“This is a tournament for the Over Fifties and an activity the encourages well being, physical activity, mental stimulation and social bonding with people of similar Ideas.
“It also helps the elderly ones to get out of the house and engage in a community group.”
