Building work halted on home extension after objections received

CONSTRUCTION of a rear dormer extension at a house at Croft has been halted after objections were received from neighbours and the parish council.
Borough council planners have deferred a decision on the retrospective application for planning consent in Smithy Brow to give time for more information to be obtained.
Planning officers had recommended the scheme be granted permission.
Members of the borough’s development management committee were told work had started on the project but had been halted until the application had been determined.
The plan is for a rear dormer extension and Juliet balcony. Officers recommended approved because the development was was in line with similar nearby properties, some of which had dormer extensions and Juliet balconies.
They did not believe the development would have any severe impact on neighbours.
But the parish council on the grounds that the scheme would affect neighbours’ privacy and amenities, over dominate adjoining properties and conflict with the character of the surrounding area.
Three neighbours objected on similar grounds.
The committee decided to defer a decision, pending receipt of further information.
