Warrington Conservatives have declared they are “back in business” after around 70 members and supporters attended the relaunch of the Warrington Young Conservatives on Friday 31 July.
The event welcomed Rt Hon Esther McVey MP and Ben Fletcher, the Conservative candidate for Mayor of Cheshire and Warrington, who spoke about the importance of engaging younger generations in politics and building a strong Conservative movement ahead of the 2027 Cheshire and Warrington Mayoral Election.
The relaunch forms part of the Warrington Conservative Federation’s wider programme to rebuild the local association following the appointment of its new leadership team earlier this year. Since then, the Federation has increased campaigning activity, launched new events and expanded opportunities for members to get involved.
Jack Thwaites, Deputy Chair Political, said: “Seeing around 70 people attend our first Young Conservatives event shows the momentum we are building across Warrington.
I joined the Conservative Party in March after leaving Reform because I wanted to be part of a party that believes in local democracy and is committed to Warrington. I became disappointed by what I saw as a lack of internal democracy and little interest in building a serious organisation here.
This is only the beginning, and I’m excited about what we can achieve together.”
The Federation says the successful relaunch demonstrates a growing appetite for political change across the borough and believes residents are looking for a credible alternative following Labour’s record at Warrington Borough Council.
The Warrington Conservatives is now holding regular business networking events, members meetings, campaign sessions, community events and Young Conservative socials as it prepares for the 2027 Cheshire and Warrington Mayoral Election and the 2028 Warrington Borough Council elections.
