Police issue image of man following suspected acid attack at Culcheth

POLICE have released an image of a man officers want to speak to in connection with a suspected acid attack in Common Lane, Culcheth on Friday night which resulted in a number of teenagers requiring hospital treatment.

Shortly after 9.40pm on Friday 11 October police were notified of the incident involving a man and a group of teenagers in Common Lane, Culcheth.

Officers attended and discovered that an unknown substance had been thrown at the group.

Some of the teenagers, who are all from Warrington, were taken to hospital.

They have since been discharged having received treatment.

The man involved in the incident had left the scene when officers arrived.

Enquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing and officers believe that the man in the image may have important information to aid their investigation.

They are urging anyone who recognises him or thinks they may know who he is to get in touch.

Sergeant Neil Bradley, of Warrington Local Policing Unit, said: “I would like to reassure the community that this is believed to have been an isolated incident.

“Thankfully none of the teenagers sustained any serious injuries as a result of the incident and enquiries are ongoing to establish exactly took place.

“We believe that the man in the image may have vital information to help with our enquiries.
