Birchwood pupils take part in the big beach clean

A GROUP of 14 pupils from years 8, 9 and 10 at Birchwood High school, Warrington took part in a beach clean at Formby.
They were part of a group of more than 100 people, including local residents and businesses, who took part in the Great British Beach Clean, sponsored by the Ocado Foundation.
The youngsters collected from the sand dunes and beach area. In total, 300kg of rubbish was collected in more than 45 bin bags.
One Birchwood youngster found a crisp packet which was 40 years old- showing how long rubbish can stay in the environment.
