A WARRINGTON pub has been voted the most dog-friendly pub in the North West.
The Maltings, at Old Hall, was voted into the top spot in the region by pub-going dog lovers.
Now in their third year, the awards are run by online dog-sitting platform, DogBuddy and aim to celebrate the UK pubs that go the extra mile to make dogs, and their owners, feel welcome.
Nearly two thirds of dog owners will search online for a dog-friendly pub before making a visit, and 67 per cent are put off visiting a pub if it’s not dog-friendly. Nearly a quarter of dog owners have left a pub because it’s not been suitable for their dog.
The Maltings beat last year’s winners, the Caldedonia, in Liverpool, into second place.
James Jepson, general manager of The Maltings was delighted upon receiving the news his pub had won,
He said: “It’s an amazing accolade to have and shows that we are a community-based pub. We are incredibly honoured to have an award like this and it will drive us forward in everything we do, dog related too.
“We want to make sure that each dog that visits us is treated the same as our human customers. We provide towels, treats and personalised water bowls for every dog and even offer Sunday Roasts for our doggy friends too.”
