THE senior leadership of bus company Network Warrington has changed, with Cathy Mitchell joining as the new chairman of the board and Ben Wakerley as managing director.
Cathy Mitchell has been a Labour councillor for Burtonwood and Winwick for a year and has been a Network Warrington board member during that time.
She is a former barrister and businesswoman and has a history of voluntary and charitable work in the local area.
Ben Wakerley is originally from Bolton and started his career with First Manchester as a bus driver, occasionally driving Service 100 to Warrington.
He moved to First London as general manager and then went on to become head of operations for National Express. During this period, he was recognised at the UK Bus awards.
Most recently, he was operating London Buses at Abellio London and Surrey.
Cathy said: “I am proud to be appointed chair of our municipally owned bus company in Warrington and I would like to thank Maureen Banner and Damian Graham for their dedication and commitment as outgoing chair and MD respectively”.
Ben added: “I believe that a locally-owned bus company is a real asset to Warrington. We are listening to all our customers and prospective customers to ensure that we provide the service that people expect and to encourage more people to use their bus service”.
