POLICE at Warrington today released a photograph of a man they wanted to question in connection with a theft and assault at a store in Birchwood.
The alleged offence took place at about 1.30pm on Thursday, May 18.
A man was in the Argos store on Dewhurst Road when an off-duty police officer saw him steal a mobile phone.
The officer identified himself as a police officer when the man was running out of the store and the man collided with him, causing minor injuries.
The suspect then ran out of the store and across the car park.
He is described as around 5ft 8 inches tall, of stocky build with cropped or short hair and a round face. He was wearing sunglasses and a dark coloured top and shorts.
